A dock leveler ratchet bar is a steel bar that works in conjunction with a toothed-device – a pawl – to form the ramp control hold-down for a mechanical dock leveler. As the dock leveler is used over the course of time, ratchet bars wear down to the point where they do not have the ability to properly secure the dock leveler. This ratchet bar is for a Rite-Hite mechanical dock leveler. When a worn ratchet bar is replaced with a new ratchet bar, it makes the dock leveler safe, because it will be securely held at all times.
