Springs do the heavy lifting, so to speak, in mechanical dock levelers. They position the dock leveler for loading and unloading trucks and then position the dock leveler back into storage when it's not in use. Springs are the most-often replaced part on mechanical dock levelers because they are continually engaged when the dock leveler is in use and because they require continuous adjustment in extreme cold and heat. This spring is an extension spring for a Rite Hite mechanical dock lifter.
